Arsenal and Barcelona are reportedly tracking the progress of 17-year-old Palmeiras winger Gabriel Veron, who won the Golden Ball at the Under-17 World Cup last year.

Arsenal and Barcelona are reportedly keeping tabs on 17-year-old Brazilian winger Gabriel Veron.

The youngster currently plays for Palmeiras but has made only four senior appearances for the club so far.

However, Veron has scored twice and produced one assist in that time, despite only being on the field for a combined total of 92 minutes, while his performances at the Under-17 World Cup also attracted attention.

Veron scored three goals to help Brazil to the U17 World Cup title last year, winning the Golden Ball award for the tournament's best player in the process.

Yahoo! Brasil claims that Barcelona and Arsenal are tracking the right winger's progress, and also that Everton failed with a £12m bid for the attacker during the January transfer window.

Palmeiras are thought to be holding out for a bid of around €30m (£26.5m) before they consider selling Veron.
