Fiorentina have reportedly stolen a march on Arsenal in the race for Sassuolo attacker Domenico Berardi.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a stellar start to the 2021-22 Serie A season, racking up five goals and three assists in 10 top-flight appearances.
With the Gunners supposedly set to cut their losses on Nicolas Pepe amid interest from AC Milan, Berardi has emerged as a rumoured target.
However, Calciomercato claims that Fiorentina are now at the head of the queue for the Italy international's services after agreeing a contract in principle with the attacker.
The report adds that La Viola and Berardi have come to an agreement over a £3m-per-year deal until 2026, despite Arsenal's efforts to negotiate with Sassuolo.
Berardi boasts 110 goals and 70 assists in 301 appearances for his boyhood club and is not due to become a free agent until the summer of 2024.
