Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur pull out of Loic Remy race?

Liverpool emerge as the frontrunners to sign Loic Remy after Tottenham reportedly join rivals Arsenal in pulling out of the race for QPR's France international forward.

Liverpool appear to be in pole position to sign Loic Remy after Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both withdrew their interest in the Queens Park Rangers forward.

The 27-year-old France international is looking for a move to one of the Premier League's elite sides after spending last season on loan at Newcastle United.

Both North London clubs and Liverpool were believed to be considering a cut-price approach for the former Marseille striker after he impressed with 14 goals in 26 appearances for the Magpies.

His preference was a move to the Gunners, but they have apparently baulked at Remy's wage demands and now their capital rivals Spurs have given up after learning of his insistence on playing Champions League football.

The Metro reports that this makes Liverpool favourites to secure his signature, with Reds manager Brendan Rodgers promising to spend big following the £75m sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

Remy is available for £8m to any club who finished inside the Premier League's top four last season.
