Ray Wilkins: 'Aston Villa close to Jordan Ayew capture'

Aston Villa assistant Ray Wilkins confirms that the club are close to signing Jordan Ayew from Lorient.

Aston Villa assistant manager Ray Wilkins has revealed that the club are close to signing Lorient forward Jordan Ayew.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a switch to Villa Park in recent weeks, with reports suggesting that the two clubs had agreed a fee for the Ghana international.

Wilkins has confirmed that Ayew has arrived in England to finalise his move to the Premier League.

"The medical hasn't been been done up to now but we are just waiting upon that," Wilkins told talkSPORT.

"He is in the country and we are looking forward to getting Jordan on board."

Ayew scored 15 times for Lorient last season.
