The Spanish Football Federation have banned Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone for eight matches.
The Argentine has received the punishment as a result of his conduct during his side's recent meeting with rivals Real Madrid in the second leg of the Spanish Supercopa.
Simeone was seen to have patted one of the assistant referees on the back of the head, before refusing to go to sit in the stands once he had been dismissed from the bench by the match official.
The incident has now been reviewed by the governing body, who have explained the reasoning behind their verdict.
He has been given a four-game suspension for tapping the official on the head, two for protesting the decision to send him off, one for a sarcastic applause and a final game for refusing to leave the side of the pitch.
Despite his dismissal, Atletico won the encounter 1-0, which wrapped up a 2-1 success on aggregate for the champions.
