Report: Diego Costa to extend Atletico Madrid deal

A report claims that Brazilian striker Diego Costa is close to signing a new long-term contract with Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly preparing to offer Brazilian striker Diego Costa a new long-term contract.

The 24-year-old, who scored 10 league goals last season, had been the subject of a £22m bid from Premier League club Liverpool this summer.

That offer was rejected by the Copa del Rey champions, however, and according to Marca, that has prompted Atletico officials to prepare an improved package for the powerful forward.

Personal terms have reportedly been agreed between the two parties, but Costa has not yet penned the deal.
