Lionel Messi surpassed 70 goals this season as Barcelona came out victorious in the Catalonian derby at the Camp Nou this evening.
The Argentinian put the hosts ahead after 12 minutes by curling a free kick out of Cristian Alvarez's reach into the top corner.
Messi almost made it two before the break but his shot from outside the area drifted just wide of the post.
Messi had the chance to notch his 70th club goal of the season when Cristian Gomez was penalised for handball in the area and the 24-year-old made no mistake from the spot.
He then went on to complete his tenth hat-trick of the season with a quick counter attack.
The one-man show continued moments later as Messi reached 50 goals in the league by tucking home another penalty following Juan Forlin's foul on Sergio Busquets.
