Bury targeting Tom Pope?

Bury are reportedly hoping to secure the services of Tom Pope, who will officially leave Port Vale at the end of the month.

Free agent Tom Pope has reportedly emerged as a target for Bury as they look to add to their squad following promotion from League Two.

Bury's owners are two years into a five-year plan to reach the Championship and the club are expected to be busy in the transfer market as they prepare for life in the third tier of English football.

According to the Stoke Sentinel, signing a proven goalscorer is a priority and they are interested in securing the services of Pope, whose Port Vale contract expires at the end of the month.

The 29-year-old has been offered a new deal, but is believed to be unwilling to take a pay cut and Bury have already made an approach.

Doncaster Rovers are also interested in Pope, who has scored 61 goals in three seasons.
