David Luiz eyes Champions League progress

PSG defender David Luiz believes that his side's best chance of dumping former club Chelsea out of the Champions League for a second straight season is to attack.

Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz has set his sights on helping his side beat former club Chelsea in the Champions League for the second consecutive season.

The runaway Ligue 1 leaders will travel to Stamford Bridge for their last-16 second leg next week holding a slender 2-1 advantage from the first leg in Paris last month.

Luiz hinted that his side's best chance of going through was to play their usual attacking style rather than looking to sit back and hold on to their first-leg lead.

"It's always difficult to play against a highly-rated attack like Chelsea's," he told the official UEFA website.

"It's hard not to concede. I hope this time around we can score too, but the most important thing is for us to go through.

"Our game philosophy is to play - to keep possession, create opportunities to score goals. We have to stick to our philosophy, and we know that for now the result is in our favour."

Luiz also revealed that he was not planning to celebrate scoring in the meeting last season, but got carried away in the moment when his goal forced extra time for PSG at Stamford Bridge.

"I had said that I wouldn't celebrate if I scored, but I couldn't control my emotions because of the drama of the match," he added.

"To score a goal in the last few minutes to help your team, when we had been a man down since early in the game ... It was very important, and it kept us in that match. But my respect, my love for Chelsea, will always be the same.

"It will be another great game at Stamford Bridge, and I hope we can also come out as winners there."

Chelsea and PSG have been drawn together in each of the last three Champions League seasons, with both previous ties ending 3-3 on aggregate and each side going through once apiece on away goals.
