Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Southampton

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League fixture with Southampton.

Chelsea will be looking to make it back-to-back Premier League victories when they resume their 2020-21 campaign at home to Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues have made a mixed start to the new season but recorded an impressive 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace in their last match before the international break.

Frank Lampard's side currently sit seventh in the table, five points behind league leaders Everton, who have picked up maximum points from their four matches.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Southampton, who have won their last two in the league against Burnley and West Bromwich Albion.

Billy Gilmour is continuing his recovery from knee surgery, and Lampard recently revealed that the midfielder was "progressing well". The 19-year-old could be back in training towards the start of November, although it is unclear when he might be available to make a first-team return for the Blues.

Possible return date: October 17 (vs. Southampton)

Edouard Mendy made his Chelsea debut in the 4-0 win over Palace last time out, but the goalkeeper picked up a thigh problem while on international duty with Senegal and is now a major doubt for Saturday's clash.
