On Tuesday night, the two teams met in a mammoth Champions League occasion at Anfield, Liverpool having been defending a 1-0 advantage after their late win in France.

Chelsea will allegedly have the opportunity to reject a permanent deal for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho during the summer transfer window.

In the closing stages of the 2024 equivalent, Chelsea successfully negotiated loan terms with their United counterparts to hand Sancho a way out of Old Trafford.

The England international was not in the plans of then-United head coach Erik ten Hag, largely due to their previous falling out and the player's failure to convince him into a change of heart from his handful of further chances.

At the time, it was suggested that Chelsea would likely be signing the 24-year-old on a full-time basis at the end of the season for a fee in the region of £22m.

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a double move for Real Madrid duo Aurelien Tchouameni and Andriy Lunin this summer.

The Red Devils will sign a new centre-forward in the upcoming market, with that position thought to be the club's number one priority, but a central midfielder and at least one goalkeeper are also expected to arrive at the end of the campaign.

Christian Eriksen's contract is up at the end of June and will not be renewed, while Man United will do their best to move Casemiro on, which would open up space for a new midfielder to arrive.

Kobbie Mainoo is believed to be considering rejecting the chance to sign a new deal at Old Trafford in order to seek a move abroad, while Alejandro Garnacho is being linked with a high-profile exit, so there could be a lot of change at the club this summer.

Liverpool fans should be more concerned about Trent Alexander-Arnold's contract situation than Mohamed Salah's or Virgil van Dijk's, Reds transfer expert David Lynch has warned.

Arne Slot's side were dumped out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, losing 1-0 on in regulation time before going down 4-1 in a penalty shootout.

With Liverpool having exited at the round of 16 stage and with the Premier League almost certainly wrapped up, attention will soon turn to the three stars out of contract.

Van Dijk, Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are set to leave the club at the end of the season as things stand, and Lynch expressed his concern that the latter is the most likely to depart Anfield, telling Sports Mole: "One area where you might be a little bit worried is Trent. Liverpool would have liked to have had that wrapped up by now.
