Barcelona offer a new and improved five-year contract to Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen, according to a report.

Barcelona have reportedly offered a new and improved five-year contract to Andreas Christensen, with the club pushing to sign him on a free transfer at the end of June.

The Denmark international looks set to leave Chelsea following the expiration of his contract, and Barcelona have overtaken Bayern Munich to become the favourites for his signature.

A recent report claimed that the 25-year-old had already verbally agreed to move to Camp Nou on a free transfer at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan giants have placed a five-year deal on the table, which has improved terms to the one previously offered.

The report claims that Barcelona boss Xavi is determined to bring the Dane to the club, viewing him as a 'key player for his ideas' moving forward.

Christensen has again been an important player for Thomas Tuchel's side during the 2021-22 campaign, making 26 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and one assist in the process.

The centre-back has only played once in the Premier League since the end of December, though, having recently been absent through injury and COVID-19.
