Liverpool have reportedly submitted a £25m offer to Shakhtar Donetsk for their playmaker Alex Teixeira.
The 26-year-old, who has been tipped to leave Shakhtar this month, was recently linked with a switch to Liverpool's Premier League rivals Chelsea.
However, according to The Mirror, the Reds have sent managing director Ian Ayre out to the Ukrainian club's winter training base in Florida to try to broker a deal.
The report adds that Shakhtar value the player at around £40m, but they are still willing to hold negotiations with the Merseysiders.
Teixeira has found the net 26 times from his 25 outings in all competitions this season.
