Chelsea have reportedly made a £46m bid for Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, which has been rejected by the Spanish club.
The 23-year-old scored two goals and made 10 assists in 33 appearances for Diego Simeone's side last season, which also resulted in him being linked with Barcelona earlier in the summer.
However, Spanish publication Marca is now reporting that the Premier League champions have made an approach for the Spain international, but that Simeone is unwilling to part with the player.
Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw by Swansea City at Stamford Bridge in their first match of the season.
