AFC Telford United's bid to remain in the Conference Premier appears to have taken another hit with the news that defender Ryan Higgins is closing in on a move to Chester FC.
Earlier this year, Higgins was released by Birmingham City but soon agreed non-contract terms with AFC Telford, who were looking to bolster their squad after promotion from the Conference North last season.
However, the Shropshire side have endured a dismal run, recording just 16 points from 27 games, but Higgins's performances have impressed Chester, who currently occupy 17th place.
The 20-year-old is yet to officially complete a transfer to the North-West, but after withdrawing from Telford's squad to play Nuneaton Town on New Year's Day, completion of the switch appears to be a formality.
