Conference Premier roundup: Barnet go nine points clear

Sports Mole rounds up Thursday afternoon's action in the Conference Premier as Barnet go nine points clear with a 1-0 win over Aldershot Town.

Barnet have moved nine points clear of Bristol Rovers at the top of the Conference Premier table after they earned a 1-0 victory over Aldershot Town.

A first-half strike from Charlie MacDonald was enough for the Bees to take advantage of Bristol Rovers' failure to beat Torquay United, with a late penalty from Matty Taylor ensuring that the promotion chasers avoided defeat at the Memorial Ground.

Third-placed Macclesfield Town have moved four points clear of Grimsby Town after goals from Denny Johnstone and Danny Whitaker earned the visitors maximum points at Blundell Park.

An injury-time goal from Woking's Jack Marriott earned his team a 1-1 draw with Eastleigh, who were denied the chance to move clear in fifth position.

Forest Green Rovers got revenge for their Boxing Day defeat to Kidderminster Harriers by overcoming their hosts by a 4-2 scoreline in a thrilling match at Aggborough.

AFC Telford United remain seven points adrift at the bottom of the standings after being held to a goalless draw by Nuneaton Town, which also didn't do their own survival chances much good after failing to win at the New Buck's Head.

Dover Athletic prepared for their FA Cup game with Crystal Palace by winning 2-0 away at Welling United, while Altrincham moved closer towards mid-table with a 4-1 victory over Chester FC.

The other game of the afternoon saw three late goals from Chez Isaac, Simeon Akinola and Dan Sparkes secure a 3-0 victory for Braintree Town over Dartford.

Results in full: AFC Telford United 0-0 Nuneaton Town, Altrincham 4-1 Chester FC, Barnet 1-0 Aldershot Town, Braintree Town 3-0 Dartford, Bristol Rovers 1-1 Torquay United, Grimsby Town 1-2 Macclesfield Town, Kidderminster Harriers 2-4 Forest Green Rovers, Welling United 0-2 Dover Athletic, Woking 1-1 Eastleigh
