Report: Alan Pardew interested in Crystal Palace job

A report suggests that Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is eyeing the vacant post at Crystal Palace following Neil Warnock's dismissal.

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is interested in the vacant post at Crystal Palace, according to a report.

The Eagles sacked Neil Warnock on Saturday following a poor run of results, leaving caretaker boss Keith Millen in charge of their 0-0 draw against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

The 53-year-old played for Palace for four years between 1987 and 1991, and is allegedly keen to return to his former club, despite being just two years into an eight-year contract with the Magpies.

Pardew was the subject of a mass campaign to be ousted from his position on Tyneside following his side's struggles early in the season, but a good run of results over the past two months eased the pressure on him.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is said to be unwilling to part with his side's manager after backing him through some difficult periods in 2014, according to The Mirror.

Pardew didn't appear for his post-match press conference following his side's 3-2 win over Everton in light of the speculation regarding his future.
