Joe Hart: 'Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ripped it up'

Joe Hart heaps praise on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for his display against Brazil on Sunday.

England goalkeeper Joe Hart has paid tribute to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for his impressive impact from the bench against Brazil on Sunday.

The Arsenal man came on in the second half and, along with Wayne Rooney, put the Three Lions ahead, but a late Paulinho strike ensured that the game finished 2-2 at the Maracana.

Hart, who pulled off a number fine saves to stop England from going behind before the break, was pleased with the performance of the 19-year-old.

"Alex came on at a good time," Hart told the FA's official website. "I think 'The Ox' will appreciate we did a lot of hard work for a player like him to come on. But he ripped it up.

"You talk about the Brazil players - there was a lot of focus on them - but The Ox came on at 19 [years old] and smashed us back in the game - you can't ask for much more. It wasn't how we wanted to play first half. But we dug deep."

The goal was Oxlade-Chamberlain's third for England.
