Everton are reportedly interested in signing Adnan Januzaj, with the Belgian winger enduring a tough time at current club Sevilla.

Everton have reportedly shown interest in Sevilla outcast Adnan Januzaj.

The former Manchester United winger surprisingly stayed put in Andalucia this summer, despite hardly featuring before being shipped out on loan last season.

Januzaj enjoyed five good seasons at Real Sociedad between 2017 and 2022, where he played regular football in San Sebastian.

Last summer though, Januzaj opted to move to Sevilla after his contract with La Real expired.

Since then, the 28-year-old has made just three La Liga appearances for the club, one of which was a 26-minute cameo against Almeria at the weekend.

That was his first sighting in a Sevilla shirt since returning from a loan spell at Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey during the second half of last season.

Januzaj contributed to five goals in 12 appearances for Basaksehir, but three of them came in one game against relegated Giresunspor.

Sevilla have had their financial problems too, at one point listing their entire squad up for sale earlier in the summer.

With Januzaj unlikely to be a key figure in the first team, Spanish outlet Fichajes claims that he is one of the players the club would most want to sell in January.

The report also states that Everton are one of the few clubs showing interest in the winger, a move which would see him return to England for the first time since leaving Man United in 2017.

Everton representatives are said to have made contact with Januzaj's team to learn about his intentions of changing scenery.

Januzaj burst onto the scene just down the M62 from Goodison Park at Old Trafford in the 2013-14 season.

In what was a difficult season for the Red Devils in David Moyes's one and only year with the club, Januzaj scored four and assisted three goals as a teenager.

Januzaj's five seasons at Real Sociedad brought some enjoyment back to his career too after enduring a tricky spell after that debut season, contributing to 43 goals in all competitions, earning him a move to Sevilla.

Having been unable to break into the side though, Januzaj may look to Everton to revive his career, a club on the lookout for wide players after selling Demarai Gray and Alex Iwobi late in the summer window.

Despite chasing Wilfried Gnonto for much of the summer, a move never transpired, and Everton ended up losing two wide options without bringing any in.

Jack Harrison did arrive on loan from Leeds United, and made his debut in the EFL Cup win over Aston Villa on Wednesday, but Everton's only senior options out wide are him, Dwight McNeil and Arnaut Danjuma, so they may look to strengthen that area in the winter window.
