Everton are reportedly chasing Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian playmaker Bernard after ending their attempts to sign Dynamo Kiev star Andriy Yarmolenko.
Reports earlier today claimed that the Toffees were close to signing Ukraine winger Yarmolenko and River Plate defender Ramiro Funes Mori for a combined fee of around £24m.
However, although it appears as though a deal for Funes Mori should still go through, it is rumoured that Roberto Martinez's side have pulled out of a potential move for Yarmolenko and have instead switched their attentions to Bernard.
The Mirror suggests that Everton were prepared to pay the Ukrainian's alleged €20m (£14.5m) release clause, but that they have found negotiating a deal with Kiev extremely troublesome.
The report claims that the Premier League club now feel that they have more chance of landing Bernard, who is thought to be unhappy with life in Ukraine.
Bernard, who featured for Brazil at last summer's FIFA World Cup, has played just 37 league games for Shakhtar since joining two years ago from Atletico Mineiro.
