David Moyes 'not replacing Marouane Fellaini'

David Moyes says that Everton are not replacing Marouane Fellaini by signing Leroy Fer from FC Twente.

Everton manager David Moyes has rubbished reports that he wants to sign Leroy Fer as a replacement for Marouane Fellaini.

The Belgian has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park, with his impressive form this season sparking interest from a number of top Premier League sides.

The Toffees are close to signing FC Twente's Leroy Fer, despite the deal hitting a snag on Tuesday, but Moyes is adamant that he is not bringing in the Dutch midfielder in preparation for Fellaini's exit.

"I read something about him replacing Fellaini and that's the biggest load of tosh I have heard," Moyes told The Mirror.

"That's nonsense, whoever wrote or said that.

"They are different types of players. No, that's not the reason for bringing him, that's for sure."

Fellaini joined Everton in 2008 for a club-record £15m from Standard Liege.
