Didier Deschamps refusing to look past Germany

France boss Didier Deschamps refuses to look past Friday's quarter-final encounter with Germany regarding his side's hopes of lifting the World Cup.

France boss Didier Deschamps has played down his side's chances of World Cup glory, insisting that he is solely focused on Friday's quarter-final clash with Germany.

Both nations square off in Rio this week knowing that victory would propel the winning team into the semi-final of the tournament.

Although Deschamps admits that he is 'dreaming' of a last-four place, the 45-year-old stressed that he is not thinking about returning to the Estadio Maracana for the final on July 13.

"I'm a realist and my target, like my players, is Friday," he told FIFA.com. "It doesn't serve any purpose to look any further ahead. The reality now is Germany on Friday.

"Everyone can dream, including me, but I'm a pragmatist and a realist, Friday is the only thing that counts."

Les Bleus booked their quarter-final place by beating Nigeria 2-0 on Monday evening.
