Forward Kylian Mbappe says that he only suffered "a knock" to his ankle after limping out of training with France on Tuesday.

Forward Kylian Mbappe has played down an ankle injury that he sustained during a training session with France on Tuesday.

The Paris Saint-Germain attacker was forced to limp to the touchline after a challenge with teammate Adil Rami, and speculation began to mount over the nature of the problem.

However, Mbappe - who is expected to feature heavily for France at the World Cup - has said that he has only suffered a minor "knock" and will be ready to face Australia on Saturday.

The 19-year-old is quoted by ESPN as saying: "Ice packs? No, it is just a knock. I hit the ball poorly and I fell - it is nothing serious. It will be treated, and it will go away."

Mbappe has already made 15 appearances for his national team, scoring four goals.
