Mick McCarthy unconcerned by booing

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy says that he is unfazed at being booed by sections of his support.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has insisted that he is unfazed by fans calling for him to be relieved of his duties.

The Tractor Boys needed a 95th-minute equaliser from David McGoldrick to salvage a point from their game with basement side Rotherham United on Saturday in an encounter which saw fans direct chants of "what a load of rubbish" and "your football is shit" in McCarthy's direction.

The result saw Town marooned at 15th in the Championship as part of a poor run that has seen them win just twice in their last 10 league games.

"We did not play well [in the second half], I fully understand that. But I have had three years, nine months of relative success here, with people thinking I've done a good job and shouting 'Super Mick'," McCarthy told the Ipswich Star afterwards.

"I don't get carried away [by boos or cheers]. I treat them both as imposters.

"I and the players will continue to try and turn the season around. I am hoping today, as disappointing as it seems, it might just be the positive point."

Next up for McCarthy's men is a trip to playoff-chasing Sheffield Wednesday next Saturday.
