Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has indicated that his side could sign a new forward in January if they let Rhian Brewster leave on loan.

The Reds are keen to get the 19-year-old some proper first team match experience now that he is fit again, although Klopp wants to ensure there are clauses in place to ensure that the England youth star gets sufficient playing opportunities.

Both Aston Villa and Swansea City have been linked with making loan offers for Brewster in the new year, with Liverpool's German boss indicating that were the youngster to leave, he would potentially look at entering the market for another striking option.

Speaking ahead of the Reds' game with Bournemouth on Saturday, Klopp said: "Yes, we have to see. We can't just give the boys [away] on loan because we have built this squad.

"We have three long-term injuries and four with Paul Glatzel, two of them were pre-season. Two came later with Joel (Matip) and Fabinho.

"That gives us a 16-player squad and I count the kids, but we cannot only give players on loan and think it is good for him, we always have to consider both situations."

One player that the Reds could make a move for is prolific Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa, who has expressed a desire to join the Merseyside club in recent days.
