Liverpool head coach Arne Slot insists that Mohamed Salah is 'not distracted' despite his recent comments about his uncertain contract situation.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has insisted that Mohamed Salah is 'not distracted' despite his recent comments about his contract situation.

As it stands, the Egypt international will be able to walk away for nothing when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Salah recently revealed that he is yet to receive a formal contract offer, claiming that he feels "probably more out than in" when it comes to his Liverpool future.

The Egyptian's comments sparked significant speculation and discussion about whether he will still be a Liverpool player at the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

Slot insists Salah remains focused on Liverpool

Unsurprisingly, Slot was asked about Salah's remarks in his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

"The only thing I can say is, if I look at my lineups, Mo is more in than out," the Liverpool boss told reporters on Tuesday.

"I don't think he's distracted at all. I haven't seen that after the United game [in September] where he had some comments, I haven't seen it after a post you told me about, he just kept on scoring.

"If you would have been at the Axa [training ground] today, I don't think any player spoke about it, at least not when I was there."

Slot responds to Carragher criticism

Slot was also asked about Jamie Carragher's comments on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football after the former Liverpool defender criticised Salah for going public about his contract situation.

"I focus a bit more on what else he said," Slot said: "He said he was one of the five best players Liverpool have ever had and I completely agree with him, which is not an easy thing because we have had so many great players at this club.

"I don't think it distracts Mo at all - maybe even brings the best out of him. Like I have said already a few times, my main focus is the next game. I talked to Mo about what I expect from him like I do all the other players. He is in a good place at the moment."

Salah has not let his uncertain future affect his performances, having scored 12 goals and contributed 10 assists in 18 competitive appearances this season.

The 32-year-old has registered four goal contributions in the Champions League, and he will have the chance to add to that tally when Liverpool welcome Real Madrid to Anfield on Wednesday.
