Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is reportedly devastated after Barcelona were unable to complete a move on transfer deadline day.

Sofyan Amrabat has reportedly been left 'devastated' after Fiorentina rejected Barcelona's loan bid on transfer deadline day.

The Catalan giants are looking to strengthen their midfield, with Sergio Busquets expected to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Barcelona identified Amrabat as a potential transfer target, and they attempted to sign the Morocco international on the final day of the January transfer window.

They reportedly made a loan offer with an option to buy, but Fiorentina rejected Barcelona's bid for the midfielder.

Amrabat was keen to complete the loan switch and missed training on transfer deadline day in an attempt to force through the move.

Journalist Toni Juanmarti has claimed that Amrabat has been left 'devastated' and 'hurt' after Fiorentina rebuffed Barcelona's loan proposal.

As a result of the situation, Amrabat has been left out of the Fiorentina squad for today's Coppa Italia quarter-final against Torino.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, via Football Italia, Fiorentina are 'furious' with Barcelona and their manager Xavi for repeatedly calling Amrabat on transfer deadline day.

The report claims Xavi and Barcelona board members continued to speak to Ambrabat on Tuesday, which has angered the Italian club.

Although Amrabat failed to complete a move in January, he is expected to attract interest from Barcelona and a number of clubs in the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old gained recognition for his performances at the 2022 World Cup, where he helped Morocco finish in fourth position.

Amrabat played every minute of Morocco's campaign in Qatar, and his performances at the tournament have caught the attention of several top sides across Europe.

As well as being a transfer target for Barcelona, Amrabat has also been linked with Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

Amrabat is currently under contract until June 2024, but Fiorentina have the option of extending that deal by an additional year.

Since joining the club in 2020, Amrabat has made 83 appearances for Fiorentina, with one goal to his name.
