Valencia full-back Aly Cissokho emerges as a reported transfer target for Premier League side Sunderland.

Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio has reportedly identified Aly Cissokho to fill his team's left-back void.

Danny Rose played in that position for the majority of last season, but he has now returned to his parent club Tottenham Hotspur.

Earlier this summer Di Canio tried to sign Argentine full-back Lucas Orban, but that deal failed to materialise.

As a result, the Black Cats have turned their attention to 25-year-old Cissokho, according to the Sunderland Echo.

However, the report added that Liverpool are likely to challenge Sunderland for the French international's signature.
