Manchester City 'confident of reaching Pep Guardiola agreement'

Manchester City will reportedly make Pep Guardiola the highest-paid manager in world football should he join the club this summer.

Manchester City are confident that Pep Guardiola will cut short his time at Bayern Munich in order to take over at the Etihad Stadium this summer, according to a report.

News emerged last night suggesting that the Spaniard had agreed to join the recently dethroned Premier League champions, although no confirmation has yet been given.

However, The Mirror claims that City chiefs have been working hard on reaching an agreement with Guardiola, which will see him depart the Bavarian giants with a year still left to run on his current deal.

The Citizens will reportedly make the former Barcelona boss the highest-paid manager in world football, while also handing him a mammoth transfer budget to act as further leverage to bring him to England.

Guardiola's time at Bayern has turned sour in recent weeks, with successive Bundesliga defeats, a German Cup semi-final exit and a heavy loss at the Camp Nou allegedly leaving him feeling disillusioned at the Allianz Arena.
