Rio Ferdinand urges English clubs: 'Sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic'

English clubs should make a move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the summer, according to former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.

Rio Ferdinand has encouraged English clubs to make the most of Zlatan Ibrahimovic's likely status as a free agent in the summer.

The 34-year-old recently revealed that he is yet to open contract negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain, which sparked rumours that he may be on the move.

Ferdinand's former club Manchester United have been credited with an interest, while Arsenal have also been linked with the Swede in years gone by.

Having seen the frontman score one goal and assist another during PSG's 2-1 win away at Chelsea in the Champions League tonight, Ferdinand called on Premier League clubs to swoop.

"This game was decided by clinical play and he was at the centre of that. He basically ended the tie," the ex-England international told BT Sport.

"He showed today that even at 34, English clubs should be looking at him as a free transfer. He can be the catalyst to winning things because that's what he does."

Ibrahimovic has been involved in 29 Champions League goals for PSG since 2012.
