Manchester United loanee Odion Ighalo will be forced to take a significant pay cut if he is to land a permanent contract at Old Trafford, according to a report.

Odion Ighalo has reportedly been told that he will have to accept a £200,000-a-week pay cut if he is to join Manchester United on a permanent basis.

The Nigerian striker has made a solid start to life at Old Trafford after arriving in a shock loan move from Shanghai Shenhua in January.

Ighalo has scored four goals in eight matches for United and has hinted that he would be interested in staying at the club beyond the end of the season.

According to the Daily Star, however, United will not match the £300,000 a week Shanghai were paying the 30-year-old before he returned to England three months ago.

The report indicates that Ighalo, who has previously represented Watford in the Premier League, is instead likely to be paid no more than £100,000.
