Manchester United are reportedly interested in Real Madrid loanee Brahim Diaz, but Manchester City would be in line to profit if the transfer was completed.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Brahim Diaz, who is currently on loan at AC Milan from Real Madrid.

Diaz has been on loan at the reigning Serie A champions since the 2020-21 season and his current deal will run out at the end of the current campaign.

The 23-year-old will therefore have to decide whether to sign a permanent deal with the Italian giants, return to Madrid or seek a move elsewhere.

The former Manchester City midfielder left England for Madrid in 2019, with the Citizens reportedly embedding an 'anti-United' clause into their deal to deter any future sale to their Manchester rivals.

According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, that clause is still valid and if the Spanish club were to sell to United, City would stand to receive 40% from the transfer deal.

If he were to move to Milan however, then Diaz's former club Malaga would receive 15% of that transfer fee - a clause that was agreed upon when City signed the player as a 16-year-old in 2013.

Diaz has been a regular fixture in the Milan side having played 92 times since joining on loan in the summer of 2020, scoring 15 times and assisting nine in all competitions.

Last season saw the Rossoneri lift the Serie A title with Diaz contributing three goals and three assists in 31 league appearances.

This season has seen an improvement in front of goal with four goals in nine games, including a brace against Monza in their 4-1 victory in their latest outing.
