Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has reportedly urged Louis van Gaal to sign Harry Kane this summer.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker scored 31 goals during a breakthrough season which saw him called up to the England squad.
Rooney has worked with Kane during their time on international duty, and The Express claims that the England captain wants United to go ahead with their £40m pursuit.
It is believed that United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is keen to continue their reputation as the leading team for English talent.
Rooney will be in action when England face Slovenia in their Euro 2016 qualifier this evening.
