Manchester United and Newcastle United are reportedly 'likely to try' to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha.

Manchester United and Newcastle United have reportedly been 'cleared' to pursue a transfer for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha.

The 24-year-old experienced a slow start at Signal Iduna Park after he joined Dortmund from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023.

However, he has managed to establish himself in the Dortmund team this season, having started each of the last 10 competitive matches.

Nmecha has made a total of 19 appearances for Nuri Sahin's side this term, chipping into their attacking efforts with three goals and two assists.

The midfielder's impressive performances have caught the attention of Premier League clubs, raising the possibility that he could return to England after previously coming through Manchester City's academy system.

Man United, Newcastle eyeing Felix Nmecha transfer

According to Caught Offside, Manchester United and Newcastle United have been 'cleared' to pursue a move for Nmecha in the upcoming transfer windows.

The report claims that Dortmund have indicated that they will listen to offers between €40m (£33m) to €45m (£37m) for the Germany international.

Man United and Newcastle are 'likely to try' for Nmecha after keeping a close eye on his performances for Dortmund this season.

However, they could face further competition, with Aston Villa believed to be showing an interest in the former Man City man.

Why are Man United and Newcastle targeting Nmecha?

Man United could look to bolster Ruben Amorim's midfield options in January or the summer, especially with uncertainty surrounding the future of two of their experienced midfielders.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have both been linked with moves away from Old Trafford, with the latter out of contract at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is said to have expressed a desire to strengthen his midfield with Nmecha's signature.

The Magpies seemingly want Nmecha to add to their current midfield options which include Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff and Sandro Tonali.
