Arsenal are allegedly told that Newcastle United will not let star forward Alexander Isak leave St James' Park for anything under £125m.

Arsenal have reportedly been told that Newcastle United will not let Alexander Isak leave for under £125m.

The 25-year-old has been in excellent form for the Magpies during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 19 goals and registering five assists in 27 appearances in all competitions, including 17 goals and five assists in 22 Premier League outings.

Isak has a contract at St James' Park until June 2028, having penned a six-year deal upon his arrival from Real Sociedad, and he has developed into one of the leading strikers in world football during his time with the Magpies.

In total, the forward has 54 goals and nine assists in 94 matches for Newcastle, following on from the 44 goals and eight assists that he managed in 132 matches in all competitions for Real Sociedad.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal continue to monitor Isak in the hope that a deal can be agreed during this summer's transfer window.

However, the Gunners have been informed that an offer of £125m would be required for Newcastle to even consider entering into negotiations over a possible departure ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Newcastle 'want £125m' for Arsenal-linked Isak

Arsenal would face competition for Isak if they were to make a move this summer, with Barcelona also said to be admirers, as the Catalan outfit prepare to sign a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Manchester United also need a new striker and are keen on Isak, although the Red Devils would struggle to sign him this summer unless they were able to secure Champions League football for next season.

Arsenal are seemingly best-placed to move for Isak, with the Gunners resisting the temptation to make a short-term signing in the final third of the field during the January transfer window.

However, the North London club would have to break their transfer record in order to sign Isak, with the fee passing the £100m deal that took Declan Rice to the Emirates Stadium from West Ham United in 2023.

Should Arsenal break the bank for Isak this summer?

Isak is the real deal, and Newcastle have every right to demand a serious transfer fee for his services.

Arsenal desperately need a striker, and Isak would be the perfect fit, with the Swede potentially being a game-changer for a team that are almost there when it comes to winning major trophies.

There will have to be difficult decisions made on some important squad players this summer, with funds needing to be raised for a new striker, so a chunk of the £125m fee could be generated by exits.

At 25, Isak has so much football ahead of him, and Arsenal simply must not pass up the chance to sign one of the leading forwards in the world during this summer's transfer window.
