Ray Wilkins: 'Radamel Falcao will not be offered new Manchester United deal'

Former Manchester United star Ray Wilkins says that Radamel Falcao's "poor" performances have left the club with no choice but to reject signing him on a full-time basis.

Ray Wilkins believes that former club Manchester United will turn down the chance to sign Radamel Falcao on a permanent deal in the summer.

The Colombian international striker has failed to make an impact since joining the Old Trafford outfit on an initial season-long loan, scoring just four goals in his 20 appearances for the club.

Falcao cut a frustrated figure on the United bench once more last night as the Red Devils picked up a late 1-0 victory over Newcastle United, and Wilkins insists that the former Atletico Madrid and Porto man's future at the club is now coming to an abrupt end.

"Falcao has been struggling for goals," he told talkSPORT. "He hasn't shown any type of form that we expected when he arrived at Manchester United.

"His form has been very poor in fact, we haven't seen anything like the player who destroyed Chelsea with Atletico Madrid a few years ago.

"They have already paid a huge loan fee and his wages are extremely expensive. To take him on would require a big fee, I would think they will look elsewhere."

It is claimed that Falcao will set United back around £43m should they wish to land him on a permanent contract at the end of the campaign.
