Chelsea and Napoli's interest in Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho has reportedly "lulled", raising the prospect that the Argentine could remain at Old Trafford.

Chelsea and Napoli's interest in Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho has reportedly 'lulled' ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.

Garnacho has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the current transfer window despite being under contract until the summer of 2028.

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna recently confirmed his club's interest in signing Garnacho after failing with a £40m bid for the Man United forward.

Chelsea, have also been mentioned as a potential suitor following speculation that they were prepared to meet with their Premier League rivals over a move for the Argentine.

Man United boss recently conceded that he could not offer any guarantees that Garnacho would still be at Old Trafford at the end of the transfer window.

Lull in Garnacho interest

However, according to Sky Sports News, there is currently a 'lull' in Chelsea and Napoli's interest in signing the 20-year-old.

There has been no movement on a new proposal from Napoli, with two clubs said to be €10m (£8.4m) apart in their valuation of the Argentina international.

The report claims that 'lines of communication' are still open between the two sides ahead of the February 3 deadline.

As for Chelsea, they are yet to register a formal interest but could be waiting for the right moment to step up their pursuit.

The Blues could be boosted by the belief that Garnacho would rather stay in the Premier League if he were to leave Old Trafford.

However, Man United would demand a higher fee from a Premier League rival than if they were to sell Garnacho to a team from abroad.

Amorim happy to keep Garnacho

Despite the considerable interest in his services, the chances of Garnacho staying at Man United appear to growing stronger by the day.

There has been a suggestion that the Red Devils would be open to a sale to help ease their concerns over meeting the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.

However, Ruben Amorim is said to be 'happy' with Garnacho's professionalism and application, while the club are not desperate to part ways during the current transfer window.

As a result, Man United will only consider sanctioning the winger's departure if they receive a significant transfer offer.
