Millwall, Palace in goalless draw at The Den

Millwall and Crystal Palace play out a goalless draw in the Championship.

A goalless draw this evening meant that neither Millwall nor Crystal Palace could secure their respective objectives in the Championship.

Three points for Millwall would have guaranteed their survival, while a win for Palace would have secured them a spot in the playoffs.

In a first half of few chances, Josh Wright came closest to breaking the deadlock, firing just over Julian Speroni's crossbar after being found by Andy Keogh.

The hosts' lead playmaker James Henry had to come off injured midway through the half, with Martyn Woolford taking the right midfielder's place.

Early on in the second half, Palace's top scorer Glenn Murray appealed for a penalty after going down under the challenge of Alan Dunne, but referee Graham Salisbury wasn't interested.

With 15 minutes on the clock, Palace defender Damien Delaney wasted a clear chance by blazing over after the ball fell to him from a corner.

A point apiece means that Millwall are now two points clear of the drop zone going into the final day, while Palace are two points into the playoff places.
