Juanfran: "We deserved to win"

Atletico Madrid right-back Juanfran believes that his side did enough to take all the points from Sunday's 2-2 draw with Real Madrid.

Atletico Madrid right-back Juanfran believes that his side deserved to take all three points from the Madrid derby against Real Madrid.

The ill-tempered affair at the Vicente Calderon finished 2-2, but Juanfran has insisted that "the team is very much alive" in the La Liga title race.

"We deserved to win. We played a great game, we had several good looks, we had more intensity and the draw doesn't sit well with us," he told reporters at a press conference.

"This team is very much alive. There are people going around saying that we played [too aggressive] and that we're burned out, but nobody here is burned out.

"The most important thing is that we've played a great game and they saw the heart we have. There's a group of people that don't like to see us near the top."

"They are used to Barcelona and Real Madrid fighting it out every year, but then there are a group that loves to see Atleti at the top and we're staying there."

Atletico are currently third in La Liga, three points behind leaders Real Madrid.
