Roma plan to make contact with Francesco Totti's representatives over a new contract later this week.

Roma will reportedly begin contract talks with Francesco Totti's representatives this week in a bid to keep their long-serving captain at the Olimpico.

Totti has just entered the final year of his current Roma contract, but is thought to be keen on finishing his career with the Giallorossi.

The 36-year-old wants a two-year deal and will accept a reduced salary to stay in Serie A, but Roma prefer a one-year extension with an option to renegotiate their position.

Roma director general Mauro Baldissoni will make contact with Totti in a bid to resolve his long-term future in the next seven days, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Totti has spent his entire professional career with his hometown club, scoring 282 goals in 678 appearances dating back to 1992.

Rudi Garcia's side begin their Serie A campaign on August 25 against newly-promted Livorno.
