Ronald Koeman praises "very solid" Southampton

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman praises his side's "very solid" performance in their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Ronald Koeman has said that his side were "very solid" in their win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League this afternoon.

Southampton moved up to fourth in the table following the 3-1 victory at Selhurst Park.

"I'm very pleased and we were very solid. We scored some good goals and defended well," BBC Sport quotes the manager as saying.

"We dealt with the long balls and the direct, physical play of Crystal Palace and that was the key. We knew we had more quality but it would be a battle and a fight and we were well prepared for that."

Southampton are in action again on Sunday when they host league leaders Chelsea.
