James Ward-Prowse will reportedly undergo his West Ham United medical on Thursday ahead of completing a permanent move to the London Stadium from Southampton.

The Europa Conference League winners are understood to have reached a full agreement with the Saints to sign the 28-year-old midfielder in a deal worth £30m.

Southampton initially turned down West Ham's £30m bid last month, but they have since accepted their latest offer with more favourable payment terms and conditions.

According to Sky Sports News, Ward-Prowse has agreed personal terms with West Ham and is scheduled to begin his medical on Thursday.

The report adds that the midfielder would like to play one final game for Southampton and feature in this weekend's Championship clash with Norwich City, but he is keen to avoid picking up an injury and will therefore not take part in the fixture at St Mary's.

After completing his medical, Ward-Prowse would need to be registered by midday on Friday to be eligible for West Ham's opening Premier League game of the new season away against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Ward-Prowse has been searching for a summer exit from boyhood club Southampton since they were relegated from the Premier League last season.

The England international has spent his entire professional career with the Saints, scoring 54 goals and registering 53 assists in 408 appearances across all competitions since and including his debut back in 2011.

The dead-ball specialist, who has earned legendary status at St Mary's, set up Che Adams for the winning goal in Southampton's 2-1 victory at Sheffield Wednesday in their first game back in the Championship last Friday.

Ward-Prowse has been identified by West Ham manager David Moyes as one of his top midfield targets this summer, with the Hammers boss keen to spend the £105m received from the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal last month.

West Ham are also closing in on the signing of another midfielder in the form of Edson Alvarez, who is understood to have undergone his medical ahead of finalising a £34m transfer from Ajax.

The East Londoners have also reportedly agreed a fee in principle to sign Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire, although an agreement on personal terms is yet to have been reached, while Red Devils midfielder Scott McTominay is also of interest to Moyes.

Meanwhile, West Ham appear to be fighting to keep hold of attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta amid interest from Manchester City, who are understood to have seen a verbal offer between £60m and £70m turned down by the Hammers.

Talks are said to be ongoing between both clubs and West Ham are allegedly exploring the possibility of receiving attacker Cole Palmer in part-exchange for Paqueta.
