England Supporters Club member Mark Perryman believes that the fans have a "right to know" why the FA decided not to approach Harry Redknapp over the England vacancy.

England Supporters Club member Mark Perryman believes that the fans deserve an explanation from the Football Association over snubbing Harry Redknapp and approaching Roy Hodgson.

The West Bromwich Albion boss is due to undergo talks with the English governing body over the Three Lions job today, despite Tottenham Hotspur coach Redknapp being the hot favourite as soon as Fabio Capello stepped down in February.

"I think first of all, the FA needs to be open in terms of the situation," said Perryman. "It's almost inconceivable they haven't approached Redknapp.

"I think the fans and the broader sporting public have a right to know what the situation is with Redknapp. It's quite conceivable he has turned the job down but fans have the right to know.

"I am not saying Hodgson is the wrong man but clearly there was a popular mood around Redknapp and in the spirit of open governance, let's be clear what the situation was there."

Meanwhile, Redknapp has claimed that he is focused on his career with Spurs.
