Mauricio Pochettino "happy" with Tottenham Hotspur performance despite draw

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino says that he is "happy" with his side's performance during the 1-1 draw with West Brom despite missing the chance to go top.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he is "happy" with his side's performance during their 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion this afternoon.

Spurs needed an 89th-minute equaliser from Dele Alli to rescue a point at The Hawthorns after Nacer Chadli had earlier broken the deadlock against his former club.

Victory would have taken Spurs top of the table and Pochettino acknowledged that it was a missed opportunity for his side, but he was content with what he saw.

"We missed the opportunity to achieve three points but in the same way it was a difficult game. When you show your skill and are much better than the opposition during 45 minutes and create five or six big chances but don't score you leave the score open," he told reporters.

"The Premier League is the best league in the world because it's always difficult. I am happy with the performance, it's true we can talk about being more clinical but the team played very well in the first half.

"It's always difficult to play here and we were a little bit unlucky with [Ben] Foster too because the keeper is man of the match which you can see."

The point saw Tottenham drop down to third in the table as North London rivals Arsenal moved into second.
