Team News: Hugo Lloris misses out for Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur do not include goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in their squad to face unchanged Newcastle United at White Hart Lane.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has not been named in the Tottenham Hotspur squad for their match with Newcastle United this afternoon, following the concussion that he suffered last Sunday.

Spurs have been criticised for not substituting the Frenchman after his collision with Romelu Lukaku in the 0-0 draw with Everton a week ago, but they insist that the Les Blues skipper was okay to continue.

However, Brad Friedel replaced him between the posts for Tottenham's midweek European fixture, and the American retains his place at White Hart Lane today, with the hosts seemingly unwilling to risk Lloris.

Friedel's inclusion for his 450th Premier League appearance, is one of four changes made by Andre Villas-Boas from the XI that started against the Toffees, with Christian Eriksen and Gylfi Sigurdsson returning in place of Aaron Lennon and Lewis Holtby.

Brazilian midfielder Sandro has shaken off an injury to take his place among the substitutes along with Erik Lamela, with Moussa Dembele lining up alongside Paulinho in the centre of the park.

Newcastle are unchanged from the team that beat Chelsea 2-0 last time out, with manager Alan Pardew persisting with Shola Ameboi as his lone striker and Loic Remy playing off the left flank.

That means that Cheick Tiote continues to captain the side in the absence of regular skipper Fabricio Coloccini, who is named on a visiting bench that also includes Hatem Ben Arfa and Papiss Cisse.

Spurs: Friedel; Walker, Dawson, Chiriches, Vertonghen; Paulinho, Dembele; Sigurdsson, Eriksen, Townsend, Soldado
Subs: Gomes, Kaboul, Sandro, Lennon, Lamela, Holtby, Defoe

Newcastle: Krul; Debuchy, Williamson, Yanga-Mbiwa, Santon; Sissoko, Tiote, Cabaye, Gouffran; Ameobi, Remy
Subs: Elliot, Coloccini, Anita, Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Ben Arfa, Cisse
