Tottenham Hotspur right-back Djed Spence is reportedly undergoing a medical with Rennes ahead of completing a loan move to the Ligue 1 club.
The 22-year-old moved to North London from Middlesbrough for a fee close to £20m in the summer, after impressing on loan in the Championship with 2021-22 playoff winners Nottingham Forest.
However, Spence has struggled to gain regular first-team under head coach Antonio Conte, featuring for just 41 minutes across six substitute appearances, with Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Ivan Perisic all preferred in the right wing-back role.
Competition for places on Tottenham's right side is soon set to increase, with Pedro Porro currently in London ahead of finalising a €45m (£39.5m) transfer from Sporting Lisbon.
According to the Evening Standard, Spence is undergoing his medical ahead of completing a straight loan move to Rennes for the rest of the 2022-23 campaign, which does not include an option to make the deal permanent.
Spence is poised to link up with Spurs centre-back Joe Rodon, who joined Rennes on loan over the summer and has made 17 appearances in all competitions for the French side.
Rennes, who qualified for the Europa League knockout rounds earlier this season, currently sit fifth in the Ligue 1 table, six points behind the Champions League positions.
Meanwhile, Tottenham reportedly have no plans to loan out Oliver Skipp and Pape Sarr, who are set to remain at the club beyond Tuesday's 11pm deadline.
