Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered talks to sign Portugal international Andre Gomes from Barcelona.
Spurs have been on the lookout for a new central midfielder this summer, with Everton's Ross Barkley long regarded as their primary transfer target.
However, Sky Sports News reports that Barkley's current absence through injury has prompted Tottenham to look at other options on deadline day.
Barcelona are willing to let the 24-year-old leave the club on either a permanent or temporary basis after he failed to impress following his move from Valencia last summer.
Gomes made 47 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions last season, but just 27 of those came from the start.
