West Ham United reportedly watched Hibernian midfielder John McGinn in Saturday's clash with Aberdeen.

West Ham United assistant manager Billy McKinlay was reportedly sent to Scotland at the weekend to watch Hibernian midfielder John McGinn in action against Aberdeen.

The Hammers were linked with a move for McGinn in the latter stages of 2017, with head coach David Moyes believed to be an admirer of the 23-year-old.

According to The Scottish Sun, Moyes sent McKinlay to watch the midfielder on Saturday, and it is understood that a favourable scouting report was returned as the Scot impressed in his team's 2-0 win.

The report adds that Hibernian boss Neil Lennon is preparing to lose McGinn this summer as interest in the five-time Scotland international continues to gather pace.

McGinn, who has just one year left on his contract at Hibernian, has scored six times and registered six assists in 33 appearances in all competitions during the 2017-18 campaign.
