Jez Moxey: 'Talks ongoing regarding sale of Wolverhampton Wanderers'

Wolverhampton Wanderers chief executive Jez Moxey says that "everything is being done" to find new owners for the Championship club.

Wolverhampton Wanderers chief executive Jez Moxey has said that it should not come as a surprise if the sale of the club is completed in the near future.

Last September, chairman Steve Morgan announced his intention to sell the Championship team but despite reported interest from several parties, the West Midlands outfit remains available.

However, speaking in the brochure handed out to attendees of the Wolves awards evening on Tuesday night, Moxey reiterated that "everything is being done" to try to push through the right deal for the club.

Moxey said: "We have had many expressions of interest from potential new owners since it was revealed that the club is up for sale, as well as several visits from interested parties both to Molineux and Compton Park.

"At the time of writing, it remains to be seen whether any of this interest is transformed into something more substantial that I can talk about publicly, but rest assured everything that can be done is being done to expedite a change in ownership.

"Given that everything in football can change so quickly - and we don't like speaking about such matters until there is something concrete to say - no one should be surprised if in the not-too-distant future we have some very positive news to share - it really can happen like that."

Wolves ended their recent campaign in the second tier in 14th position in the table.
