Red Bull's Daniil Kvyat tops timesheet in rain-affected P2 at Japanese Grand Prix

Red Bull's Daniil Kvyat records the quickest time in a rain-affected second practice session at the Japanese Grand Prix.

Red Bull's Daniil Kvyat has clocked the fastest time in the second practice session on a drenched Suzuka track at the Japanese Grand Prix.

It was a relatively dry start to the session as Kvyat grabbed the first lap in a time of 1:49.374, while reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton failed to better his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg.

The Brit, who is one race win away from matching Ayrton Senna's 41 victories, clocked 1:48.853, half a second off Rosberg, in his first time around the circuit.

Drivers became more cautious as the rain descended onto the track, with Pastor Maldonado, Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel among those to slide off the circuit due to the conditions.

Toro Rosso rookie Carlos Sainz Jr, who topped the first session, recorded the seventh-quickest time of P2.
